Smooth muscle - Smooth muscle is a type of non-striated muscle, found within the "walls" of hollow organs; such as blood vessels, the bladder, the uterus, and the gastrointestinal tract. Smooth muscle is used to move matter within the body, via contraction; it generally operates "involuntarily", without nerve stimulation.
Skeletal muscle - Skeletal muscle is a type of striated muscle, attached to the skeleton. Skeletal muscles are used to facilitate movement, by applying force to bones and joints; via contraction.
Cardiac muscle - Cardiac muscle is a type of striated muscle found within the heart. Its function is to "pump" blood through the circulatory system by contracting.
T-tubules - Invagination of the plasma membrane (sarcolemma) of striated muscle that lies between two tubular portions of the endoplasmic (sarcoplasmic) reticulum to form a triad of membrane profiles adjacent to the A band/I band junction in some cases, in other cases to the Z disc, of the resting sarcomere. Depolarisation ...
