Thermodynamic equilibrium - In thermodynamics, a thermodynamic system is in thermal equilibrium or thermodynamic equilibrium when its macroscopic observables have ceased to change with time -- for example, an ideal gas whose distribution function has stabilised to a Maxwell-Boltzmann distribution. This allows a single temperature to be attributed to the whole system.
Negative Luminescence - Negative luminescence is a physical phenomenon by which an electronic device emits less thermal radiation when an electric current is passed through it than it does in thermal equilibrium (current off). When viewed by a thermal camera, an operating negative luminescent device looks colder than its environment.
Johnson-Nyquist noise - Johnson-Nyquist noise (sometimes thermal noise, Johnson noise or Nyquist noise) is the noise generated by the equilibrium fluctuations of the electric current inside an electrical conductor, which happens regardless of any applied voltage, due to the random thermal motion of the charge carriers (the electrons).
Photoconductivity - Photoconductivity is an optical and electrical phenomenon in which a material becomes more conductive due to the absorption of electro-magnetic radiation such as visible light, ultraviolet light, or gamma radiation. To be photoconductive a semiconductor must be in thermal equilibrium, which contains free electrons and holes.
